I have been on mission to trace my family roots for several years. The more I delve into the past the more intrigued I have become in tracking down family history. I am in no way an accredited geneologist, however, I have discovered many valuable resouces in obtaining much treasured information about my family's history. I am planning in the near future to visit some of the local areas where my ancestors lived in hopes of finding missing information. Both my maternal and faternal parents and grandparents were for the most part from southeastern Georgia. Some distant ancestors originated from Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina and finally settling in Georgia. What I find most interesting is that my my maternal great great grandparents and my faternal great great grandparents are so inter connected marrying into each other's family. In the 1870 Federal Census I find both sides of the family are listed on the same page. This is amazing to me. I have traced my father's side of the family back into the mid to late 1700's. I have not been as lucky with my mother's side, I have been able to trace those roots back to early 1800's from North Carolina and South Carolina and then to Georgia.

On my mother's side the surnames are, Sweat's, Lawrence's, Kitchens', Boyds.
On my father's side the surnames are, McDaniel's, Powell's,Smith's,Braswell's,
Thigpen's.

This is an ongoing work in progress as new information becomes available I am constantley updating my files. The history files are as accurate as can be at present.
